Industry Characteristics
The chemical industry is a representative process device industry, and process-specific device control and operation are crucial. Existing chemical/material factories is well equipped with operation-centric equipment automation systems. However, there are challenges in managing production-related data — such as materials, quality, and equipment —which are dispersed and not centrally managed. Recently, domestic and foreign chemical and material companies have been promoting the introduction of smart factory systems with the goal of digitizing and integrating all data (materials, production plans, operations, quality, facilities, shipments, and safety) beyond the existing device operation-centered management. By implementing a visible factory through digitized data integration, it is possible to quickly identify problems, and continuously improve the process. In particular, in the semiconductor chemical materials field, by implementing an MES production system in response to export regulations, it was possible to bring about the effect of import substitution through rapid localization.
