Maximizing equipment efficiency and adhering to occupational safety regulations through integrated management of production/operation/quality data enabled by process equipment industry-specific functions

Industry Characteristics

The chemical industry is a representative process device industry, and process-specific device control and operation are crucial. Existing chemical/material factories is well equipped with operation-centric equipment automation systems. However, there are challenges in managing production-related data — such as materials, quality, and equipment —which are dispersed and not centrally managed. Recently, domestic and foreign chemical and material companies have been promoting the introduction of smart factory systems with the goal of digitizing and integrating all data (materials, production plans, operations, quality, facilities, shipments, and safety) beyond the existing device operation-centered management. By implementing a visible factory through digitized data integration, it is possible to quickly identify problems, and continuously improve the process. In particular, in the semiconductor chemical materials field, by implementing an MES production system in response to export regulations, it was possible to bring about the effect of import substitution through rapid localization.

Miracom’s Values

  • Implementation of specialized smart factory for the chemicals/materials industry
Miracom provides industry-specific customized MES in the chemical/materials industry to reduce energy costs, improve productivity through integrated management of production/operation/quality data, and secure uniform quality of products.
    • Strengthening manufacturing execution capabilities with plan-based work orders and manufacturing execution and maintaining uniform quality levels with system-based recipe management and work progression
    • Digital transformation of production information, integration and sharing of disparate production/quality data, and collection of production/quality/operational data for product traceability
    • Implementation of a quality monitoring system by collecting inspection data in conjunction with laboratory and online analytical equipment
    • Improvement of work efficiency by automating raw material input performance, production performance, silo/tank work-in-process collection, and standardizing and automating repetitive closing tasks
    • Gaining visibility into the manufacturing sites, including raw material inventory and production volumes, to better respond to issues on the factory floors.

Customer Success Stories

  • A world-class gas and chemical material company had a problem with dispersed process input/performance/quality information and ERP-centered production performance management, which hindered them from effective management of real-time manufacturing execution and verification of data. With Miracom's MES put in place, core processes were standardized, and an integrated production management system was implemented by adding an automatic aggregation function for quality data. As a result, it strengthened field management capabilities and laid the foundation for phased improvements in the field.

A high-tech material company pushed ahead with the establishment of smart factory to secure a competitive advantage in manufacturing high-tech materials in the fierce domestic and international market competition. In order to solve the problem of human error and document loss caused by manually managing materials, a system was set up to strengthen the linkage between on-site material management and ERP. As a result, the manufacturing competitiveness was enhanced by creating an operation management system based on data, and the firm saw their customer trust improve by upping quality.

A leading functional chemical material company was managing enterprise data only with an ERP system, which meant that only material input, inspection, and product performance were processed computationally. To solve the problem, Miracom established a manufacturing reference information system and deployed MES linked to ERP to enable real-time manufacturing execution management. Miracom's MES solution is a standardized system that can flexibly respond to changes in the manufacturing environment, allowing for quick identification of production progress and worker status, securing visibility of the manufacturing site and improving work efficiency.
