Automotive

Supporting on-time delivery through proactive quality assurance and inventory visibility of a wide range of partner companies which make up the automotive value chain from auto parts to complete vehicle assembly

Industry Characteristics

The automotive industry is classified into the vehicle assembly and parts industries. The automobile assembly industry is undergoing smart factory transformation across all sectors, promoting proactive quality assurance through parts identification, tracking management, and the realization of emotional quality for customer satisfaction. The auto parts industry is striving to strengthen its competitiveness through system-based quality management to achieve the high quality requirements of finished product manufacturers and schedule management for timely delivery. The automotive industry requires a system for tracking and managing 4M* change information and checking the quality impact of 4M changes to secure a real-time quality abnormality detection and control system. It is necessary to establish a manufacturing system based on equipment automation, secure visibility into logistics operations at manufacturing sites, and ensure timely delivery to maximize inventory management efficiency.

Customer Success Stories

  • A leading wheel bearing manufacturer implemented a global MES to unify their disparate information and set the stage for global growth. Manual reports such as production diaries were automatically generated through the MES, reducing labor and data errors, while equipment data collection and analysis increased manufacturing efficiency. Ultimately, the company has established an accurate decision-making system by matching computerized and physical information.

A leader in autonomous mobility needed to build their own manufacturing execution system to meet the changing needs of their market. The client company had been using a foreign MES provided by a manufacturing equipment company. However, due to difficulties in prompt response responding to changes on the shop floor, they introduced the flexible Miracom's MES system for easier expansion. The adoption not only standardized the process for efficient manufacturing execution, strengthening production management capabilities, but also created a traceability system from materials to shipment. In particular, they introduced a function to manage use of auxiliary materials that require lifetime management, such as metal masks and feeders. Then they were able to manage auxiliary materials and requirements in real time, enabling the customer to lay the foundation for a global smart factory.

The client was building new factories in each of its overseas bases to achieve its business goals, but due to the construction of different systems for the same process, there was a lack of standardization of tasks and systems while excessive investment costs were required. To solve these problems, Miracom established standardization of data, processes, interfaces, UX, and source code to secure global operations and governance. Based on the established production/logistics system of the firm's existing Chinese entity, standardized/specialized processes for the Mexican entity and new Chinese entity were sequentially integrated and implemented. Despite limited human resources, an optimal global operational framework has been established for management.

The customer, a global auto parts company, required linkage between the finished vehicle and parts information and synchronization between part lot information and quality information. Against this backdrop, Miracom built MES optimized for the auto parts industry to streamline process progress management. The solution provider created a real-time material inventory management system using barcodes and developed a delivery and quality inspection management function based on part identification tags. The optimization met the customer's quality control requirements and secured a timely delivery system according to customer needs through inventory management visualization and process progress management efficiency.
